Retro Tea Party Idea
Make the tea party even merrier by having all of the guests show up wearing a fancy hat or Fascinator to the event.
I don't know about you but I've noticed that parties I've attended, no matter how big or small, are way more fun when they have a theme and everyone has to get a little creative with their outfits.
Hats for a tea party are a guaranteed smile-starter and a great way to get all of the guests laughing and talking together.
If you're into really fun leggings, you're going to love these lookalike retro 80's neon pink running shorts leggings.
They're leggings, so you're completely covered but they look like those sport shorts that we all wore back in the eighties. So cute and fun!
Wear them when you're out jogging or use them as part of an 80's costume for Halloween or parties.
They're fun to look at but don't be fooled, these are actually high quality apparel that's made to last.
Fabric & Care
There's even a red pair that looks like you're wearing the shorts with those fashionable leg warmers everyone was flaunting in the 1980s.
Grab a pair today so you'll be prepared for the next 80's occasion!
There's also all kinds of other custom retro and modern style leggings to choose from at Zazzle.
Retro School Portrait Laser Background and Party Invitations
Back in the 80's every kid wanted the cool laser background on their school photos. If you're planning an 80's theme party or planning a birthday or anniversary party for someone who was either born in the 80's or got married back then, we've got THE best invitation for you!
You can customize every word and number both on the front and on the back of these fun 5" x 7" party invitations.
The front of the design features fun laser look lines going across diagonally and you personalize it by uploading a photo of the birthday "child" or the happy anniversary couple.
The back exclaims that it's party time, has all of your personalized party information and has a couple of cassette tapes and a burst of brightly colored stars at the bottom.
These come complete with a white envelope.
They look great when you use a retro laser background photo of the birthday boy or girl but if you don't have an original from the eighties, or if you're planning to use these invites for an anniversary party, you can purchase a poster print of that famous laser beam backdrop and create a new photo to use.

And Zazzle has lots of other cool stuff featuring this fun 80's photo background design!
You'll find a tie, watch, or a bandana to wear in the photo. There's cookies and trays that would be fun at the party. There's also cell phone covers, clocks, postage stamps, blankets and more.
Vintage-Style Bridal Shower Invites
If you're planning a good old-fashioned bridal shower why not go all the way by using these retro look beehive hairdo bridal shower invitations.
This fun retro design has matching recipe cards that can be purchased separately to make it easy for intended guests to bring along a favorite recipe to share with the happy couple. Sharing recipes at the wedding shower is definitely a retro idea that stuck around and is still popular today.
There's also matching personalized note cards you might like to buy that can be used as a game at the shower where guests can share marital advice with the bride-to-be.
These invites are the perfect thing if you're planning a 50's housewife theme wedding shower but they're fun to use even if you're just having a traditional bridal shower.
And if you really love this design, there's a matching birthday party invitation too!
For those who are NOT beauty school dropouts....
Are you planning a party for a beauty school graduate?
I just found this adorable retro invitation that would be so perfect for a recently graduated cosmetician.
As you can see the design features (just about) everything a beautician will need to advance their career including scissors, nail polish, lip stick, lotion, and a hair straightener alongside a pretty redhead with a retro style hairdo and big blue bow.
Sure it's a bit outdated.... but that's what retro is all about, no?
This invite measures 5" x 7" and comes with a white envelope. You can order as many or as few as you need.
If purchased as-is, you can write in all of the party info on the back, or click Customize it to personalize them.
This morning, I woke up just in time to catch a glimpse of a luscious homemade chocolate layer cake being sliced up on an old rerun of The Donna Reed Show. I drooled on the remote control unable to take my eyes off of the television screen as Donna placed each really large moist slice onto a piece f what looked like her best china.
It might be that the hubby and I have been dieting for a few weeks, with no sweets allowed in the house but I just couldn't shake the thought of just how really good a piece of old-fashioned 1950's cake would taste.
Think about it. REAL chocolate, REAL sugar, REAL cake flour, fresh laid eggs and most importantly no chemical ingredients or preservatives at all.
Anywho, the experience made me look for some fun retro cake theme birthday party invites.
Bake up a cake for the birthday boy or girl and gather the guests with one of these fun invites.
It's pretty much no secret that the 70's were one of my favorite decades. I owned a Gong Show Reject t-shirt, was glued to Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley on the TV and loved Freddie Mercury like a brother, Oh and don't even get me started on my John Travolta crush. If you've got the same kind of groovy love for the 70's then it's time to host a party!
Luckily for you the Retro Girls (that's us) know a thing a two about hosting the perfect party. Here's a few tips for having the best 70's shindig on the planet!
Pick The Perfect 70s Party Invitations
Getting your guests through the front door should be the first thing on your 70's party to-do list and that means sending out a personalized party invitation. Luckily the amazing folks at Zazzle have a super selection of fully customizable 70's party invites. Here's just a few to choose from.
Party Like It's 1978
This is your chance to shine the the 70's sun. Create a decor palette that will wow your guests. Here are just a few 70's party themes you can try or mix and match for an even groovier look.
Disco Parlor Party Theme - Create a disco den with faux shag carpet, beaded curtains and (of course) a disco ball. You can even serve your food on disco plates!
Hard Rockin' 70's Party - This is a super simple party idea (no decoration necessary). Have everyone come in their favorite 70's band t-shirt. Give out prizes for the best tee.
Have a Tiki Party - Go Hawaiian with some Tiki wear and decor. Be creative with your food too. Pineapple Smoothies are a must as are Tiki Posters!
Grove Your Party With Some 70's Tunes
A retro party without music is like cake without ice cream. Here's an eclectic and fun list of 10 must play songs that we handpicked for your 70's party.
1. Alice Cooper -School's Out
2. John Denver - Annie's Song
3. Tammy Wynette - Stand By Your Man
4. David Bowie - Space Oddity
5. Queen Bohemian - Rhapsody
6. Kenny Rogers - Lucille
7. John Travolta & Olivia Newton John - Summer Nights
8. Rod Stewart - Da Ya Think I'm Sexy
9. The Village People - YMCA
10. Gary Numan - Cars
Have The Brady Bunch On Repeat During Your Party!
There's nothing like watching The Brady Bunch in digital HD! Seeing Marcia, Jan, Cindy, Greg, Peter and Bobby on a 65" television will bring the 70's to your party front and center. No need to blast the sound, just having the images of the perfect 70's family will make your guest feel at home.
I don't know why but lately I've been having some really strong cravings for brunch foods that I used to love as a kid. I'd die for some of my mom's Crepe Suzette (which I learned years later wasn't really Suzette at all. There was no flaming orange sauce. We just spread jelly on a Crepe but it was outstanding!) or my Grandma Margie's Vegetable Frittata right now.
How about you? Is there anything your mother used to make that neither of you has had in a long time? Why not pull out the old recipes and cook them up for a fun Mother's Day Brunch?
