The term "robot" was coined all the way back in the early twenties and with the progression of technology, real robots are now working hard for us all over the world but when many of us think of these humanoid machines, our first thought brings us to their corny counterparts from the 1950's sci-fi movies or maybe you have fond memories of Rosie, the housekeeper on The Jetsons.

These are the kinds of robots that all children, throughout the generations, tend to love.  In fact,  to a lesser extent, there are many, many toys that children play with today that could be considered robots.  These are the types of toys we grown-ups secretly covet and wish that they existed when we were children.

That's why it's so much fun to throw a robot themed party for our kids who love these mechanical androids.

How to Make a Robot Birthday Cake

Aside from the presents the birthday child will receive, the most exciting thing at the party will be an extra special out-of-this-world cake.

There's really no reason to spend a fortune buying one.  You can easily bake and decorate one yourself.

To make a homemade robot cake like this one for a child's birthday party, start by baking a cake in a single layer 9" x 13" cake pan.  Use any flavor cake mix, or start from scratch.

I didn't make the cake shown above but you can see how it was cut and decorated using colored frosting that you can buy or make using vanilla frosting and food coloring.

Use sliced doughnuts for the hands and feet.

You can find the candy letters in most grocery stores as well as the decorator tubes of icing to add the fun elements and your child's name.

Robot-themed party supplies and decorations will complete the look and add a fun environment to the party. 

You can find fun robot party supplies at just about any party store.  I found the following super cute reasonably priced set at Amazon that will satisfy the needs of 16 guests  It comes with everything including two sizes of napkins, cups and both dinner and dessert plates, all with funny robots on them but you should be able to find many other styles in different colors to match your robot theme.
